Flea Control Flooring
Aside from cleaning the pet bedding, you also have to remove fleas on flooring. If these are not removed, they will multiply and infest your whole home.
Vacuum the Floor
Vacuum all the floors in the house. Pay special attention to the flooring your pet goes to. Vacuum the corners of the house and any cracks on the floor. It is in those crevices that fleas hide and lay their eggs.
Vacuum as often as you can in dark out of the way spots in the house. That is where the fleas hide. To clean around the fixtures and the baseboards, use the vacuum’s nozzle attachment. You should also vacuum the upholstery as fleas and ticks hide there too.
Vacuuming the floors work because of the vibrations; it encourages them to come out of their cocoons. When that happens, they will get sucked in by the vacuum.
Use Insecticides
You can also remove fleas on flooring by using an insecticide. These insecticides come in the form of sprays or bombs. Before you spray this on the floor, read the instructions. Follow the guides on how to use them. The best sprays are those with IGR. This ingredient will kill the fleas effectively.
If the flea infestation isn’t too severe, use spays. Bombs and foggers are only used for heavy infestations. Bombs contain strong chemicals, so use them only as indicated.
Remove Fleas from Your Pet
If your pet has fleas, use a flea killer product to remove it. Spot-on treatments are the most effective. These are applied on the back of the cat’s neck monthly. Giving your pet a flea bath will also remove the fleas.
Keep applying the medication even if the fleas are removed. This will prevent the fleas from coming back. Keeping the fleas off your pet will also keep them off your floors.
Tips and Warnings
Flea products have to be used strictly according to the specifications. Do not use a dog flea treatment on cats. Neither should you use flea medication for dogs and cats on kittens and puppies. There are separate medications that have to be used for them. You can treat the floors a couple of weeks after applying the treatment to your pets.
Using any of the methods described above make it easy to remove fleas on flooring. Just make sure the house and flooring don’t get dirty, so fleas will stay away.
