Flea Control in The Yard
Two of the things that fleas will most likely infest first are your yard and your pet. Your house on the other hand, can be infested with the fleas if your pet, you or someone who may be carrying the fleas step inside the house.
Now, you may have heard it often enough that in order to eliminate flea infestation, you need to work on all areas in and around your house, plus your pets.
Flea control in the yard may seem like a big task, after all, if the fleas are lurking under the blades of your grass, you will not see them at all – unless you perform a close inspection; but nonetheless, it is something that needs to be done.
Flea Control Products for the Yard
When you are looking at different products to control flea infestation in your yard, one of the first things that you need to check is how safe the product is on your plants.
There are products that could harm your plants and while you may have found the perfect products for flea control in the yard, you may end up killing some of your plants as well.
Products that were once popular for controlling fleas in the yard were found to have a strong odor that could irritate you and your pest, too. Fortunately, there are now odorless pesticides that can kill fleas without causing any side effects on you or your pets.
You will also want to look for specific products that inhibit growth of the fleas. This will prevent them from reproducing which means that you basically have controlled their increase in population.
You should also check products that are known to encourage resistance from the fleas when frequently used.
Re-Application of Flea Control Products
It is necessary to do another round of application of the flea control product to ensure that all fleas will be exterminated. Growth inhibitors can work on eliminating adult fleas, their eggs and their larvae but they may not be quite as successful in eliminating the pupae.
This is why re-application of your product is essential. You may do a follow-up extermination about fourteen days after your initial application. Bear in mind that there could already be thousands of fleas infesting your yard plus there could be hundreds more staying safely inside their cocoons until such time when they have developed well enough to emerge.
This means that only days after your initial application, a new breed of fleas could already be emerging, hence; the need to repeat the process. As you work n your yard, you should also be simultaneously working on your pet and the interiors of your home.
