How to Steam Clean Carpets

Step 1

Rent a steam cleaner and purchase some cleaning solution and spray-on treatment. Steam cleaners are found in many stores. Rental is usually on a twenty-four basis.

Spot treat the carpet. If there are stains on the carpet, apply the solution there. This way you can get rid of the fleas and stains at the same time.

Step 3

To start controlling fleas by steam, follow the directions on the cleaner. Put in only the required amount of cleaning solution in the water. If you add too much, the result will not be desirable.

Carpet clean using a back and forth motion. Keep repeating the movement until the dirt and fleas are removed. If the infestation is very heavy, this will take a while. If there are stains too, cleaning will take more time.

Steam Cleaning Furniture

Step 1

Begin by applying the solution on a small spot. This will be necessary so if discoloration occurs, the damage will be minimal.

Step 2

Use cleaning solutions if there are any stains. As with the carpets, follow the instructions.

Step 3

If possible, take off the furniture cushions. If this can’t be done, work the cleansing extension deeply, heading to the fabric seams. Apply the cleaning solution and steaming water. Move the cleansing extension above the fabric. Make certain moisture is vacuumed.

Step 4

Start cleaning the furniture. Do this beginning at one side going to the next. Let the furniture dry. Repeat the cleaning if needed.

Step 5

The cushions will be cleaned the same way. Go from one side onto the next. Keep repeating until the furniture is cleaned.

Keep the steam cleaning solution away from the baby, small children and pets. Even if it is non-toxic, you should never allow children to play with it.
