Flea Dip for Cats
Making flea dips for cats isn’t hard. Cats are sensitive, but using natural ingredients will prevent any complications or allergic reactions.
Lemon Dips
This will kill the fleas on your pet and repel any parasites that may come near it. Get a lemon and cut into quarters. Place the quartered lemons in a pot of water. Boil the water and lemon for 60 minutes. Turn the heat source off. Allow the lemon to rest in the water throughout the night.
Take the lemon off in the morning. Pour the liquid in the sink or some other container. Dip your cat there. Don’t rinse the dip off. This flea dip for cats can also be used as a spray. Pour the liquid into a spray bottle. Spray it on the cat to keep fleas away.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Pour half a cup of apple cider vinegar in a quart of warm water. Make sure the water is warm, not hot. Stir the mixture a bit and use it as a dip. You can also use this as a spray.
How to Give Cats a Dip
The procedure will be much easier if you have an assistant. The two of you should then prepare the needed supplies. This includes the dip and gloves needed to protect your hands. You and your assistant may want to wear long sleeve clothing so you don’t get scratches.
Your and your assistant should hold the cat’s hind and front legs together. Do this gently so the animal doesn’t attempt to break free. Dip the cat up to the neck. Keep the animal submerged for several minutes. If using a medicated dip, follow the instructions on how long to keep the cat submerged.
Remove the cat gently from the dip. Wrap the animal in a dry towel. Rub the fur gently to get rid of the excess water. You can also dab the cat with the towel.
Maintenance
Once the fleas are gone, remove the fleas in and around your home. Use borax to remove fleas on carpets. You should also vacuum the furniture. Wash all the cat’s toys and bedding. If the cat plays outdoors, make sure the yard is clean.
Flea dips for cats are very effective in eradicating these parasites. But you must also do your part to keep the environment clean. The cat should be given a proper diet to help it fight the fleas.
