Fleas on puppies are removed in ways different from dogs. Their young age makes them more fragile so you have to be careful. To safely get rid of these fleas, prepare the following.

Required Materials

Cup of hot water
Flea comb
Towels
Dog shampoo for puppies
Sponge or washcloth
Spray nozzle
Bathtub or basin

Step 1

Start by gathering all the materials needed for its bath.

Step 2

Next, pour an inch of lukewarm water into the basin or sink. Test the water and make sure that it isn’t too hot.

Step 3

Dampen the puppy up to the neck area until the water drips. Get the sponge or washcloth. Dip it in the water and wipe the puppy’s head.

Step 4

Put the puppy on a towel and apply the shampoo. Apply as much as indicated in the instructions. Do not get any on their eyes, ears, nose or mouth. Use the nozzle to rinse the animal. Fleas on puppies will die because of the shampoo. They will also drown in the water. Rinse the puppy thoroughly so there are no traces of the shampoo left.

Step 5

Remove the puppy from the bath. Set it on a dry towel. You can dry the puppy with a towel or just place it in a warm room.

Step 6

Use a flea comb to comb the puppy’s hair. Dip the comb into the cup of hot water you prepared. If you are treating adult dogs, you can prepare a cup of flea powder instead.

Tips and Warnings

Some people prefer to use baby shampoos or mild detergents. These
can work, but use them sparingly. Ensure the detergents have mild ingredients. If the ingredients are harsh, the puppy might get sick. Do not let the puppy get cold after the bath.

The flea combs are those with super fine teeth. The finer the teeth are the easier the fleas will be to catch. When using the flea comb, make sure the cup of water is hot. If not, the fleas will jump all over the place. If you don’t want to use hot water, mix water with detergent or soap. It can be just as effective in killing fleas.

When removing fleas on puppies, don’t let the puppy get near the cup of water. If there are lots of fleas, you may have to replace the basin of water. Too many dead fleas around the puppy may make it uncomfortable.
