1 lemon
1 cup fennel
Dog shampoo
Step 1
Prepare a tub of warm water. Put your dog in it. Get the coffee grounds ready.
Step 2
Rub the coffee grounds around the coat of the dog. Massage the coffee grounds as close to the dog’s skin as possible.
Step 3
Wash the coffee ground off with water and dog shampoo.
How to Make Lemon Tick Dips
Step 1
Boil a pot of water. Put a lemon in the bowl. Allow it to boil for 2 minutes.
Step 2
Turn the stove off. Let the water sit there overnight. Next day, pour this on your dog. Don’t rinse it. You can wash the dog a few hours later.
Fennel and Other Natural Dips
Just sprinkle the fennel over your dog’s bed. Allow your dog to roll on it. If your dog refuses, just rub it on their coat. Research has also shown that lemongrass, lavender, citronella and peppermint can deter ticks and fleas.
Other information
Any of these dips can be applied in two ways; by dipping the dog in it or submerging the animal up to the neck. Dips are only done about three times a year. But if the infestation is heavy, more frequent dips may be needed.
Considerations
There are many types of tick and flea products in the market. However, you need to be careful about the product you buy. Read the product specs. Use only the products that are designed for the animal. Using the wrong product may cause allergies.
Flea and Tick Prevention
As always, prevention is better than any cure. Grooming your pet regularly will reduce the chances of it getting infected by ticks or fleas. You must also give your pet nutritious food.
A healthy pet will be less immune to ticks and fleas. Your pet’s environment must also be clean. Keep your pet away from other animals that may carry ticks and other parasites. If you take your pet outdoors, inspect it when you get home.
Tick dips are very useful in getting rid of these pests. But that is only one step to keeping ticks away. You have to provide a healthy environment for your pet. By keeping the ticks off your pet, you also keep yourself safe.
